The Barbara Kapitansky Religious School at B'nai Harim

The sign which appears below proudly sports this legend: Made by the kids of B’nai Harim.

Our parents and students are all enthusiastic learners and will be co-authors of our religious school program going forward.

Religious School

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Barbara Kapitansky Religious School at Congregation B’nai Harim. We are glad to accept the registration of any school aged children of members in good standing. School will begin Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at 9 am.

Classes will continue to meet on Saturday morning before services according to our school and temple calendar. However, in-class time will be only one of your child's opportunities to learn this year. Twice a week we plan to hold Skype sessions with the rabbi. One session will be with the entire class. The other will be a one-on-one with your child to review his/her Hebrew skills. These short (1/2 hour maximum), convenient sessions will provide time for students and interested family members to discuss weekly assignments. On the Saturdays when there is school, students will be expected to stay for as much of the service as possible. Hearing the prayers and songs makes learning easier and more pleasurable. It is our hope that parents will join the children at that time. In that way, students and their families become comfortable with our traditions so that they will be able participate meaningfully.

For your convenience, we are glad to welcome parental participation in our religious school class meetings at 9 am before services begin at 10:15. You will be encouraged to help out with or create your own projects as we transform what we learn into meaningful Judaic art, learn songs and Israeli dance or take the learning outside to our meditation path.

Religious School tuition this year will be $180 per child for the school year.  An additional registration fee (for supplies) of $40 per family is required for a total of $220.  Need-based scholarships are available.

A deposit of $80 per child,  the $40 registration fee per family as well as the completed application form for each child are due by August 30, 2014.

Payment in full is due by November 1, 2014

Private Bar/Bat Mitzvah lessons are available to eligible students at an additional cost.

Please arrive by 8:45 am so class can begin promptly at 9 am.

Kindly complete a separate application for each child and return it with your deposit as soon as possible. Classes will begin Saturday, September 6, 2014.
